The unconstitutional income tax (Senate Bill 6346) proposed by Democrats this week will be heard in the Senate Ways & Means Committee meeting at 1:30 p.m. this Friday, Feb. 6 in Senate Hearing Room 4 of the John A. Cherberg Building on the Capitol Campus in Olympia.
We must act immediately to stop SB 6346 before it fundamentally changes Washington forever. While proponents market this as a “Millionaires Tax,” history proves that an income tax on anyone eventually becomes a tax on everyone.
This bill takes $4 billion every single year from Washingtonians without offering any real tax relief. It punishes married couples and hits small businesses hard, draining the very funds they need to survive and grow.
To add insult to injury, the sponsors have inserted a “necessity clause” specifically designed to strip away your right to a referendum! They are intentionally silencing your voice because they know Washington voters have already rejected an income tax 10-11 separate times.
This bill also defies our State Constitution, which requires taxes to be uniform, yet proponents are betting on a hand-picked liberal court to side with them over the law. We cannot wait for a court battle later; we must stop this unconstitutional overreach now.
Tell the Senate Ways & Means Committee and all Democrat legislators that you OPPOSE Senate Bill 6346.
